The announcement by eircom of its €20 million ultra-fast broadband trials is welcome. The open access trials will deliver speeds of up to 150Mb per second, to 10,000 residential and business customers in Sandyford in Dublin and Wexford Town.
This is great news for Sandyford, which will undoubtedly enhance the area’s ability to attract new investment and new business opportunities.
Ireland is making strides in broadband – in both speeds and supply – and this is being recognised internationally. With over 1.5 million people subscribing to broadband services and higher speeds becoming more widely available, we are no longer playing catch up.
This announcement from Eircom is yet another good news story for Irish customers. I wish Eircom success with these trials, another important step in the move to faster, cheaper broadband.”
